Shannon Hemenway: Chair
Shannon is a nurse practitioner, wife, and mom of 2 amazing young adults. She works at Ascension St. Vincent’s Coastal Cardiology in Brunswick, Georgia and has over 25 years of experience in cardiovascular medicine. The children of Jubilee Blanc captured her heart during her first trip to Haiti, which was a medical/dental mission trip in April 2010. She returned to Jubilee Blanc every year through 2019, each time falling more in love with these amazing children. God used these trips to open her eyes to the needs of impoverished children in Haiti and around the world. She serves on the Jubilee Kids Board of Directors as the chair (previously the public relations and annual fundraiser coordinator). She and her husband also serve on their church’s worship team. Shannon and her family sponsor David, Ashline, and Benji-Love.
Pam Scoggins: Secretary
Pam is an associate minister at Community Church, St. Simons Island, Georgia. She has been in ministry for over 10 years and prior to that was a teacher at a Christian school. She has a heart and passion for children to not only have the opportunity to learn academically but more importantly to learn about the love of Jesus. Pam made her first trip to Haiti in 2011 and it was then that God gave her a heart for the community of Jubilee Blanc. Since that trip, Pam traveled back to Haiti in 2012 and had the opportunity to witness the amazing work God is doing through the school that was started there in 2009. After returning from that trip, Pam accepted a position on the Jubilee Board of Directors. She has served as the liaison to the school and its administrators, and is now our secretary.
Dottie Barrow: Treasurer
Dottie is the Media Specialist and Technology Director at Frederica Academy. In 2012, she traveled to Haiti to help set up the library at Jubilee School. That was her first connection with the school and it was an incredible experience. She has traveled to Haiti numerous times since then to support the School and provide teacher training. As an educator, she believes that there is great value in flattening the walls of a classroom and giving students the opportunity for relational experiences in a globally connected world.
Emory WilsoN: Advisor
Emory co-founded the Jubilee School in 2009 and spent many years ministering in the community of Jubilee Kids as well as in southern Haiti. He has served faithfully on the board of directors for a number of years, sharing his wisdom and insight, as well as his love for the people of Haiti.
In Memoriam:
Charlie Maxwell: Honorary Lifetime Board Member
Charlie felt the call to Haiti when Emory and Mary Wilson spoke at First Baptist Church Brunswick a number of years ago. When Tony McNorton reported on the 2008 flood after he returned from Haiti, Charlie knew he had to go and help the people of Jubilee. He made three trips to Haiti, and the children of Jubilee entered his heart to stay. He previously served as Vice Chair of Jubilee Kids, and when he stepped down as an active board member, the Board of Directors voted to make him a honorary lifetime board member. Charlie went home to be with the Lord in 2019, but we will always remember him for his love for the children of Jubilee.
